Well I'm from the UK, not the US, so I have to say I consider it a little distasteful that you think everyone globally should just stop to remember.
Do you stop on the 5th an 9th of august to remember the hundreds of thousands of innocent people that died in Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
When the US starts to care about the tragedies happening outside of their borders, especially the ones they caused themselves, I'll stop and think about their losses. Until then, while I agree it's a tragedy, I'll keep my day to myself.
EDIT: Oh and to clarify your current "caring" about oil producing countries isn't really the same thing.

I should imagine he celebrates the birthday of people he knows. He probably didn't know anyone killed in 9/11 however, and I think that's his point.

No, he's picking on the OP for not remembering people who died in other tragedies and only pointing out the one relevant to today.
No... Much like me, hes probably pointing out that your tragedy you think everyone should stop still for, while other tragedies you ignore. I should imagine it's also pointing out that a lot more than 3000 people have been killed in other tragedies, but you don't expect everyone to stop and think about them.

Erm no, not quite. I observe a silence when a silence is due. I just don't agree with every 9/11 having to see posts and articles everywhere with Americans demanding we remember them. Not only do you blatantly ignore other far worse tragedies throughout history, you were in fact the cause of several. If you want to go to a US forum and all observe silence, feel free, but don't expect a global community to join in willingly just because you think you're more important than everyone else.

Stop "helping" everyone then. Since your idea of "helping" people is bombing everyone (allies included) then swooping in to deploy democracy anywhere you see oil reserves.
Obama sure seems like he wants to go into Syria. Waiting around for any excuse to go diving in and scoop up the profit. Never mind that it's against UN rulings. Never mind that you don't know who launched the chemical attack. Never mind that the Syrian rebels proved in march they had access to chemical weapons. Never mind that the Syrian rebels are made up of the very same terrorist organisations that attacked you on 9/11. There's oil in Syria, so those people need helping! Charge!
